Salvatore Patorno began this long story in Palermo at the end of the nineteenth century as a grezzista (trader of raw hides). At the beginning of the 20th century, his son Onofrio began working in the tanning sector, acquiring such expertise that in the 1930s he became a supplier to the stables of the royal house of Savoy, receiving a certificate of merit from King Vittorio Emanuele III himself. The famous Palermo company was located in coastal village of Sferracavallo.
One of the sons carried on the family business, Vincenzo Patorno (1921-2006) who together with his wife, in 1949 decided to accept the direction of an impressive project in Sao Paulo, Brazil at "CASA DONNABELLA" the idea was to reconciling Italian production techniques with the use of exotic skins such as crocodiles and pythons; shortly afterwards, the fall of Getùlio Vargas' government brought Brazil into crisis, which made all efforts useless.
Armed with tenacity, he returned to Italy and in 1951 began producing professional men's bags, near Via Ponticello in Palermo, maintaining the leather tannery at the Capo Mulini headquarters in the province of Catania for a few more years.
Subsequently, the business concentrated on the wholesale of bags and leather goods at the famous headquarters in Via Alessandro Paternostro, located in the historic center of Palermo (1960-2002).
Based on the great experience and knowledge of his parents, Giuseppe Patorno has added entrepreneurial creativity since the 1990s and focuses on the continuous needs of his customers, bringing development and innovation to the company branches.
In 2002 the current logistics and operational headquarters were established in Palermo.
The BagStore project was born in 2009 with the opening of the first retail point of sale.
In 2012 Vincenzo, current manager of the web department, entered this world and launched the first e-commerce site of the wholesale branch online www.patornopelletterie.com, managing the company's complete digital transformation process year after year.
